The Department of Commerce at A.G & S.G.S Degree College was established in the year 1975 with a visionary motto - "Knowledge for Societal Transformation." over its 48-year history, the department has become synonymous with academic excellence and has played a pioneering role in the colleges educational landscape.
Since its inception, the department has consistently grown, achieving numerous milestones along the way. It is proud to offer a diverse range of courses and resources designed to deepen students understanding of business concepts, practices, and strategies.
Key milestones in the departments journey include:
- Introduction of the B.Com Degree Programme in 1975
- Addition of B.Com (Computer Applications) in 2012
- Launch of the Post-Graduate Programme in Commerce in 2015
- Introduction of B.Com (e-Commerce) in 2021

FUTURE PLANS OF THE DEPARTMENT
To plan and organize more number of Certificate Programmes.
To train students by taking current job prospects and competency into consideration.
To conduct more number of guest lectures, student seminars and group discussions.
To provide reference books to the students.
To conduct remedial coaching classes for academically backward students.
To increase number of books in the Department Book Bank.
